Maya planted a seed in a small blue pot. Comet watched the soil.
“Is it ready?” he asked after one minute.
“Not yet,” Maya said.
After two minutes, he asked again. The pot still looked the same.
The gardener showed them how to give the seed a little water and a sunny place by the window.
“Growing takes time,” she said. “We can care for it while we wait.”
Each morning, Maya checked the soil. Comet drew a picture of what a flower might look like. At night, they left the pot to rest.
Several days later, a tiny green tip pushed through the earth.
“It came!” Comet whispered.
Maya did not tug on the tip to make it taller. She smiled and turned the pot gently toward the light.
They hung Comet’s drawing beside it. The seed had its own work to do, and the friends had learned how to wait.
